Ones to watch

During the workshops, we asked our young participants what creative activities they were interested in. There was a lot! But animation, film, music, making comics, drawing and writing all came up so often that we decided to organise and record very special Q&A sessions with top professionals in those fields brave enough to be quizzed expertly by the Hackney Young Voices children. Enjoy!

With Caribou

Music is clearly high on our young artists’ minds, but how do you go from tap tapping at home to radio stardom?

Creating comics & graphic novels

With Mike Perkins, Mike Collins and Jessica Martin

Our young artists made it clear that creating comics was high on their agenda.

So we asked Mike Perkins, Mike Collins and Jessica Martin, all award winning and world famous artists to sketch out what it takes to draw for a living and find all sorts of inspiration from the world around you.

Filmmaking & directing

With Wes Anderson

Amazingly, his creator Wes Anderson interrupted his filming schedule to take video questions from our young film buffs, and imparted his very special grain of wisdom to this very special party…

Once upon a time, there were talented young people in Hackney who had many a story to tell through writing or visuals…

Children author Anna Kemp and flash fiction writer Emily Devane opened up their book of experience to discuss how to find ideas, develop stories that really make people turn the page…
