Filmmaking and directing with Wes Anderson

When speaking to many Hackney Young Voices participants, one surprising reference cropped up time and time again. Wes Anderson and his films kept being mentioned – most discover his work with Fantastic Mr Fox, and they get hooked. No wonder when there is such a sense of fun and quirkiness to his films!

So PlaySpace plotted a little magic of our own and lo and behold, the man himself accepted to answer the children’s prodding and clever questions! This is what we sent Wes – filmed and edited by Queen Mary University 4th year student and director in the making Oscar Fouda.

But that’s not all. Wes sent back an incredible 15 minutes long video answering every single one in details. He requested to keep the video private, but here’s the audio version.

Listen in to find out more about the value of bloopers, why personal style is like handwriting and not something we can really control, what book were Wes’s parents hiding on top of the fridge, and how to find inspiration in books and every day life… all delivered in Wes’s inimitable charm and humour!
